Species 2000 China Node
The Species 2000 China Node is a regional hub of the Species 2000 program. It follows the standard system of the Standard Dataset of the Species 2000, and provides the Catalogue of Life China to all users in the world.
The Biodiversity Committee of Chinese Academy of Sciences (BC-CAS), cooperated with other partner organizations, supports and supervises the establishment of the Species 2000 China Node. The Chinese Biodiversity Information System (CBIS), supported by BC-CAS, is the foundation of Species 2000 China Node, and provides the fundamental data in source databases and IT supports to Species 2000 China Node.
The goal of the Species 2000 China Node project is to provide a validated checklist of all species (plants, animals and microorganisms) distributed in China, the Catalogue of Life China, to all users in the world. This will be achieved by bringing a series of databases together, each of them covering a group or groups of organisms in China. The checklist will be freely provided for users by a website supporting the online query to the dynamic checklist and annual checklist, and an standalone application providing the annual checklist.
The Working Group of Species 2000 China Node (led by Prof. Keping Ma from Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences) is responsible for the integrated design and implementation of the project. The IT Service Group of Species 2000 China Node (led by Prof. Liqiang Ji from Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences) provides the related IT technical support for the project.
